Biography
Kara Johansen is a licensed psychologist (#3190) in the state of Oregon. She received her MA in Counseling from Western Seminary and her PsyD from George Fox University. Dr. Johansen is board certified in clinical psychology.
Throughout her education, training, and work, Dr. Johansen’s focus has been on serving children and their families. Prior to returning to Oregon, Dr. Johansen worked as the Project Manager for the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody (UT-GSM COE). Before joining the UT-GSM COE team, Dr. Johansen provided behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families in integrated primary care. Dr. Johansen is a certified therapist in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She is rostered as a clinician in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). Dr. Johansen is also endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Clinician.
Her clinical interests include childhood trauma, disruptive behaviors, and improving child-parent relationships. At this time she exclusively works with children and their parents.
