Biography

“You can’t start the next chapter if you keep re-reading the old one.”   –Unknown

Sometimes we feel stuck.  Sometimes life doesn't make sense.  Sometimes the pain is so great or the confusion so profound that we think it will be our story forever.  But there is hope. Life will always keep moving forward, and sometimes we need a little help along the way.  All of us need help sometimes.  And sometimes that help is counseling.  If you feel awkward or nervous, that's okay.  If you feel inspired or excited, that’s okay.  If you feel hopeless or angry or afraid, that’s okay too.  Whatever you are experiencing or feeling, it is okay. Life is a story with chapters. And every chapter is different.  Counseling is a safe place to authentically ask questions, discuss feelings, identify helpful strategies and pursue personal growth.

Hello, my name is AD Diers and I am licensed counselor in Oregon and Washington. I practice an integrated approach of ACT, Existential and Solution Focused Therapy.  I am DBT,CBT, ERP, and enneagram familiar.  I utilize attachment theory and trauma informed care, to assist people with a variety of presenting concerns including:

trauma and adverse childhood experiences

OCD and intrusive thoughts
mood disorders (including Bipolar)
grief
life transitions(change/loss/divorce/etc.)
depression and
anxiety
existential concerns
relationship distress/skills
couples/marriage therapy

sexuality, gender and/or LGBTQ+ concerns
shame and identity issues
ministry concerns for pastors and spouses

My goal is to provide a respectful, safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship that helps clients recognize strengths, identify needs, cultivate resilience, understand conflicts, increase resiliency and experience personal growth and positive change in their lives.
I am here to provide support for your goals in how you want to live your own life. In sessions I will provide support, ask questions, share therapeutic interventions, and allow a safe space for any and all thoughts to be processed. The counseling experience is not one size fits all, and every client's therapy experience is unique. My highest priority is to be a safe relationship for the vulnerable places that are brought to sessions and provide healthy coping strategies for areas of struggle.

I am a Portland native and have three grown children, one teen, two granddaughters, and two ridiculously charming cats. I have over 26 years of pastoral and ministry experience. I love animals, piano, plants, art, cooking, movies, music, poetry, painting, and flower arrangement. I have found great comfort from counselors in my own healing journey and have a passion to walk beside you in yours.
