Biography

My work experience includes over 40 years in the field of counseling, over 12 years in the pastorate and almost 30 years teaching in higher education (obviously many of these concurrently!).
My main interest in counseling is what makes it effective and enables people to change and grow personally, relationally and spiritually.  I enjoy reading research on human behavior and passing on this information to my students and clients.  Helping people get a greater understanding and increased control of their lives is a central goal.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon (previously also in Nebraska and California).  I am a professor of counseling in the MA program at Western and work part-time at the A New Day Counseling center.
