Biography
As you embark on this journey toward wholeness, to more fully embrace your life and enjoy your relationships, finding a counselor you can relate to is an important step. To help you make your decision, here is some information about me. I came to pursue counseling a bit later in life, but it is work I believe I’ve been called to, and it’s work I love. Likewise, I believe each person has been uniquely created for a purpose, and I am humbled and privileged to walk along side individuals, couples and families going through challenging times and help them navigate the trail ahead with grace, strength, courage, and hope.
I work from an attachment perspective, specializing in relational difficulties and life-change issues (such as relational, career, and “season of life” transitions). I also help people experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, abuse and trauma recovery, identity development and spiritual concerns.
Helping couples work through rocky relational terrain is a particular passion of mine. I practice EFT couple therapy, which is grounded in attachment science. EFT centers on strengthening a couple’s emotional bond—that experience of feeling safe, cared for, and known by the other, and in uncovering what gets in the way of that bond. Strengthening this bond is what allows us to risk reaching for the connection we long for, and steadies the ground beneath our feet. When this bond is secure, we are more able to fully inhabit our lives.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon (#C4407). I graduated from Western Seminary in April 2013 with a Master of Arts in Counseling. Since then, I have practiced at A New Day Counseling, where I enjoy working with a broad range of people from all walks of life.
Personally, I enjoy the beach, camping, hiking and backpacking the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my Husband of more than a quarter century, and our two young adult children. If you’d like to talk a bit before you come in, I’d be happy to offer you a 15-minute telephone consult, free of charge. Whoever you end up traveling with as a guide, you are on the path now. You have taken a brave step, and I wish you all the best in your journey.
